The bad news so far is that the official release date for High School DxD Season 5 has not yet been revealed.
With The Cine Talk, a new season of the anime series was originally expected to premiere in 2020. However, COVID-19 threw a screwdriver in those release plans as it did with many other anime releases.
Via Otaku Kart, a bright High School DxD novelist, Ichieie Ishibumi, has confirmed that season 5 of the series is well under way. He also encouraged fans to continue to buy and learn more about the enlightening novel series as the high sales of this novel could trigger the ongoing production of the anime series.
If High School DxD Season 5 starts this year, then it is likely to start at the beginning of the anime season, probably in October. Otherwise, next season could make its appearance sometime in 2022.
The official characters of High School DxD Season 5 have not yet been revealed, but with Cinemaholic, it is believed that last season's cast of High School DxD: Hero will return.
These include the words of Juki Kaji as Issei Hyoudou, Ayana Taketaksu as Koneko Toujou, Yoko Hikasa as Rias Gremory, Shizuka Ito as Akeno Himejima and Azumi Asakura as Asia Argento.
It is also possible that the same cartoon studio team from last season will also return for season 5. With ComicBook.com, the first three seasons of High School DxD were hosted by Studio TNK. However, season 4 is managed by Studio Passione under the direction of Yoshifumi Sueda.
The change of studios and styles surprised many fans, and some fans were not at all happy with this sudden change. In fact, the move even prompted some fans to request that the series switch back to its season 1 to style 3. But it is possible that Passione and Sueda will continue to host the DxD Season 5 animation activities.
There is no official summary of season 5 of the High School DxD building. However, with Cinemaholic, the anime series tends to follow the same plot pattern as the simple novel series. For example, season 4 followed volumes 9 and 10 of the novels. Last season it revived its action as Issei fought Sairong.

Most likely mid-season 5 adjustments to volume 11 and 12 of a simple novel series. For Issei, that means testing. Issei will have to face a Medium Elevation Test. This pairing of tests with the position used to show the power of the Devil and could place Issei above the lower level if he passes.
But along with the tests, Issei will also have to worry about Koneko, who has learned how close Issei was to Rias and is not very happy about it.
